Company Directors

Town and Country Cleaners is privately owned by three Directors…..Kay Carter now retired, and David Rushton and Elaine Harrison pictured below. Despite their youthful looks, the two have 77 years’ experience between them in the cleaning industry, and all of it spent at Town & Country. Each has their finger on the pulse in their respective fields as they work full time in the company to guide our colleagues using that experience combined with drive, enthusiasm, and where possible, a smile on their face.

David R

David Rushton

Director of Housing

David started Town and Country in 1976 with a humble window cleaning round in Canterbury. This service soon developed into the cleaning of offices, and the company began to grow rapidly through recommendation. David’s focus on delivering an honest and quality driven service still underpins the company today, and without doubt has contributed to the great success we are experiencing.

Fascinating Fact: Not that long ago, David was an accomplished long-distance runner.

Elaine

Elaine Harrison

Managing Director

Elaine joined Town & Country in 1990 as an Office Assistant and has progressed through various departments and roles to Directorship. She leads by example with drive, enthusiasm, and an unrivalled experience of our company structure and more importantly its people. In addition to leading the company, Elaine oversees the Finance, HR, Customer Service, and Quality departments.

Fascinating fact: Elaine is first on the dance floor at the office party (and the last off it…), and loves to lose herself on a long walk with her dogs.

Operations Team

Our Senior Managers hold the responsibility of delivering the service we hang our hat on every day.

From Bedford to Brighton, and Slough to Sittingbourne, these guys oversee the day to day cleaning of our entire portfolio including offices, schools, factories, hospitals, universities, breweries, printers, freight yards, local authority HQs, libraries, museums, manufacturing sites, shopping centres, housing estates, building plots, canteens, kitchens, law firms, GP surgeries, dentists, training centres and much more.

With a degree of autonomy to run their portfolio, all are focussed on delivering the highest levels of team motivation and customer service, to simply provide their clients with a clean building every day. Here’s a little about each of them.

Jackie Fountain

Area Manager

Jackie joins us after 20 year’s experience as a manager working for one of the best known high street retailers, where customer service and satisfaction are second to none. Jackie believes that understanding the individual needs of every client leads to the success of the service we deliver. She likes to stay close to the detail, and support her team to deliver the best possible job.

Fascinating fact: Jackie loves to cook. Her spare time is spent creating recipes for her family to enjoy.

Andre

Andre Semiao

Area Manager

Andre manages our Education portfolio of 12 schools in Essex & East London and a group of neighbouring office cleaning contracts. Having moved to the UK in 2010 he first spent 7 years in smaller cleaning firms cutting his teeth on the cleaning industry before joining Town & Country in 2017. He places great importance on listening to his client’s needs, and delivering high standards of cleaning with a smile, contributing factors to a great retention rate.

Fascinating fact: Andre used to run his own laundry business in his native Portugal, providing linen & towels to a number of hotels.

Peter Thompson

Peter Thompson

Commercial Services Manager

Peter’s been an integral part of Town & Country for over 17 years, joining us after 25 years as a senior manager with a major utility firm. He enjoys working in the industry, and the satisfaction of cleaning an area or building way beyond the client’s expectations. In his time with us Peter’s cleaned for clients in a diverse range of sectors including Housing, Education, Offices, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing and Transport. His current portfolio includes Kent’s largest independent Brewery.

Fascinating fact: A keen boxing fan Peter keeps fit by training and sparring in the ring.

Support Officers

Our Support Officers are a crucial group of colleagues always on hand to help deliver a first-class flexible service.

Their roles include staff motivation, signing up new cleaners, ensuring equipment is in good order, quality monitoring, and having plentiful stocks of cleaning chemicals. Having all been cleaners and worked their way through the ranks, they’re not afraid to roll their sleeves up either.

Whilst Chris supports key contracts in the Thanet, Folkestone and Ashford areas, Debbie those surrounding Canterbury, Craig our Dover area portfolio, and Flavio our Education contracts in Essex & East London, all approach the role with flexibility, and can be diverted to support any contract, or any colleague in need of assistance.

Debbie Cook

Debbie Cook

Debbie has worked at Town & Country for 13 years, but in the cleaning industry for 19. She’s cleaned pretty much everything possible in that time, and leads her cleaning colleagues with sleeves rolled up. She personally trains them all and takes great pride in completing quality audits aiming for 10/10 every time. Nailing that most times, she puts it down to doing what it says on the tin, and delivering a no-nonsense cleaning service where results are obvious to the client.

Fascinating fact: Deb’s a keen gardener and loves to sit out and enjoy the fruits of her labour…..preferably with a glass of wine.

Craig

Craig Carden

Craigs been in the industry for 15 years and a colleague of ours for 13. His hard working, enthusiastic, eager and honest approach to the role is appreciated by everyone around him whether its colleagues, clients, or cleaners. Always there to help, whatever the time of day or the weather, Craig focusses on building strong relationships with clients and colleagues, and always tries to deal with an issue before it becomes a problem.

Fascinating fact: Craigs a self-confessed workaholic as he loves the job, but is known to let his hair down occasionally by being the practical joker of the pack.

Flavio

Flavio Costa

Flavio has been with us for almost three years now, and was promoted to his role from that of a Site Supervisor. Flavio made an instant impact of his portfolio and says his success is down to staff training, clear communication with his staff, and giving them the confidence to tackle any task.

Fascinating fact: When he’s not at work Flavio loves spending time with his family.

At Town & Country we ‘own’ your contract and we ‘try’ our best!
