Town & Country Cleaners Limited

Working to Clean your Environment

Our Investor in People Award

Town & Country Cleaners considers that training and development of our people is essential in achieving our company objectives. In August 1996 Town & Country Cleaners was the first cleaning company in Kent to become recognised with an ‘Investor in People’ Award by demonstrating our commitment to our staff.

The benefits mean that we have several structured training packages:

• A formal induction package

• Quality and customer care training programme

• Cleaning methods, including Health & Safety and COSHH requirements

• Development of staff by supporting them through Apprenticeships or an internal Training Programme based on NVQ and BICS training standards and through proactive management and support from their Customer Service Manager.

We are proud to the first cleaning company in Kent to receive the Investors in People Award and have had the award since 1996.

We believe that people in an organisation are the key to our success and is why we believe our staff are our most important asset.

In October 2010 we were assessed and were re-awarded the Investors in People award.  The following is the summary made by the assessor.

Town and Country Cleaners:

  • Has an effective framework for managing business performance, starting with clear and widely understood business strategy, and supported by a rigorous approach to performance audit and review
  • Feels like a good place to work, with those participating in this review commenting almost unanimously on the positive working environment and atmosphere
  • Continues to shows very strong commitment to learning and development, not only with the volume of development activity supported, but in the way that development and performance improvement is seen as integral to the way each department works
  • Demonstrates a range of good practices in its internal communication, with evident appreciation for the value of frequent dialogue between management and staff, robust formal mechanisms for consultation, planning and performance, and a high level of ongoing informal communication within and across teams
  • Espouses strong and simple management principles which on the evidence of this review appear generally to be upheld by those with people management responsibilities
  • Has an effective approach for rewarding and recognising effort and achievement which, unusually, is widely understood and appreciated around the business
  • Gives people scope to take responsibility for decisions, and to develop their careers
  • Is able to point to tangible results from its investment in effective management and development of people, and also to a track record of continuous improvement in these areas
